It is possible, with Early Retirement pension payments that are small because of low wages, womens wages and redundancies etc (Military Service even maybe) for JSA income based payments to be anything from £5 per week. Any pension increase is taken off as a £1 for £1.

How does this ‘square up’ with having the same money from working as people who havn’t had an opportunity to accrue NI contributions?

Peripheral work, Employer changes, low pay, discrimination of all kinds are creating a really rigid class based on money and deprivation.

There is however a new CPAG (Child Poverty Action Group) welfare rights book just published, but this doesnt help folk facing poverty without living at home children or with disabilities.
